Body Ministry par excellence! Wednesday, Apr 23 2008

Years ago I did a study on Body Ministry – taking care of one another.  I looked up all the “one another” phrases and made a great list (see that study below.)

Today I am just thankful for my friends, Anita and Larry Parks.

Adopted Uchees

Their ministry ServantCare is such a ministry.  They offer -

  • Encouragement and fellowship through their “Adopt a Missionary” program.
  • “Hospitality Homes” are available as missionaries travel through our locations in the United States and some nations as we encourage Christians to share their abundance by making housing and vehicles available for furloughs and sabbaticals.

  • They encourage pastors and Christian leaders to share their knowledge and skills with other pastors and missionaries.

  • Effective prayer covering through our “Prayer Shield”. (I have personally benefitted from and used this prayer ministry – Julie)

  • “Personal Ministry” on the field and/or while home on furlough.

  • “Scholarship Resources” for Missonary’s Kids.

  • Information on resources in many needed areas through their website’s “Resource Links” site.

  • There are even circumstances where they will send/take someone to a seminar for training or refreshing.

  • Their vision is to develop a ServantCARE community where missionaries can retire. This will be a low cost community where everyone is involved in ministry in some capacity.

Their website is www.servantcare.org

THE “ONE ANOTHER’S” IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

An Illustration of Body Life

(All scriptures NKJV unless otherwise noted.)

LOVE ONE ANOTHER

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another

John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

John 15:17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

1 Thessalonians 4:9 But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;

1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

1 John 3:11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,

1 John 3:23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

1 John 4:7, 11, 12  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God…Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

2 John 5  And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.

BE KINDLY AFFECTIONATE ONE TO ANOTHER

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

PREFERRING ONE ANOTHER

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another

DON’T JUDGE ONE ANOTHER

Romans 14:13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

RECEIVE ONE ANOTHER

Romans 15:7 Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God

GREET ONE ANOTHER WITH A HOLY KISS

Romans 16:16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.

2 Corinthians 13:12 Greet one another with a holy kiss

1 Corinthians 16:20 All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.

1 Peter 5:14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

BE KIND ONE TO ANOTHER

Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.

FORGIVING, FORBEARING ONE ANOTHER

Ephesians 4:2   with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace

Colossians 3:13  bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

ADMONISH, EXHORT, TEACH  AND PROVOKE ONE ANOTHER

Romans 15:14 Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

Colossians 3:16-17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Hebrews 3:13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

COMFORT ONE ANOTHER, EDIFY ONE ANOTHER

1 Thessalonians 4:18  Therefore comfort one another with these words

1 Thessalonians 5:11  Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

SERVE ONE ANOTHER,

Galatians 5:13  For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

BE SUBMISSIVE ONE TO ANOTHER

Ephesians 5:21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.

1 Peter 5:5 5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Faith Welfare Society – Hyderabad, India Tuesday, Apr 22 2008

I am especially proud of my dear friend, Lata Lincoln. She and her husband Abraham are founders of Faith Welfare Society.

Lata & Abraham Lincoln

They have planted over 400 churches in the last 3 years, care for orphans in 2 orphanages, provide schooling in 2 schools, show Jesus films and evangelize villages that have no Christian witness.

What makes them so effective is in part to their 24/7 prayer rooms.

The other reason they are effective is because they train up the new converts, the children to be good stewards of the Good News and world changers.

They believe and practice the Bible like few Westerners do – and as a result God honors them and confirms His Word with signs and wonders.

They have literally won hundreds of thousands to the Lord Jesus.

After reading “Church Shift” by Sunday Adelaja recently, I am really proud of this couple.

Go online to read more and see what the Lord has done!

Stop whining – do what you can to drive cheaper! Tuesday, Apr 22 2008

There are numerous ways you can not pay as much at the pump, no matter what the price is.

Just google “pay less at the pump” or some such verbiage.

We’ve changed our driving habits and are enjoying some savings; new tires, correct tire pressure, following posted speed limits, took heavy stuff out of trunk, got rid of my caddy which used premium and went to one car.  And me – I’m not floorboarding any longer.  Can you beleive it my friends?  Cause that’s coming from a gal who was called “Top End” and “Lead Foot” for years.

Also – if you smile while you are filling up – it will help, works much better than whining.

This quote comes from http://www.natural-humor-medicine.com/mental-health.html and while I cannot vouch for the entire site contents – I have tried smiling when I hurt, when I’m angry, when I’m depressed or tired – and it works!  Biblically – it’s Proverbs 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine.    NASU
Enjoy his article – “The good news for your mental health, however, is that we know how to shrink your deadly seriousness to practically nothing and reduce almost completely the sway it holds over your health, vitality, wellness, and zest. The natural medicine of humor is an incredibly powerful resource that you already possess; you’ve only forgotten how to use it to maximum effectiveness. You will soon discover that, while not a panacea, the
natural medicine of humor is a tremendous tonic for depression or anxiety and will also supercharge other treatments because it is an amazing adjunctive medicine too!”

Oasis in Troubled Times Thursday, Apr 17 2008

A dear friend recently visited our home and found an oasis of peace.  Hers was not the trouble of trials, but of seeking God for direction for the passion He put within her.  That too is troubling.  That sort of trouble is apt to cause sleepless nights, mindless staring, and wordless wondering – and family and friends to worry.

She found what she sought – not so much from us – but from our oasis.  A simple ranch-style home, hung with baskets of bright blooming flowers and herbs.  Containers also sparkling with color and scent huddling around the chaise lounges by the pool.  Wonderful Houston spring weather – not too warm, not cold at all, and very low humidity.  Doesn’t just the thought of that make you want to visit??

But the secret of our oasis is not in what you see and smell, nor the warmth of our love and fellowship.

Our secret is the peace of God that pervades our home.

Psalm 119:165 Those who love Your law have great peace, and nothing causes them to stumble.

Isaiah 26:3-4 The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, for in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness will be peace, and the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.

Isaiah 54:13 All your sons will be taught of the LORD; and the peace and well-being of your sons will be great.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.

Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:6 The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance.I think the most critical part of our lives is making Jesus Lord early in the morning.

Taking time before everything else to enjoy Him and spend time listening to Him, or sharing our hearts with Him.  Often, in our garden, waking up the morning with the birds.  There we celebrate His Love for us, His awesome, incredible, unconditional, passionate love.  And we rest.  Before we begin our day – we rest with Him.

Jesus is after all, our oasis.

Bill Clinton taxes higher than George W. Bush! Tuesday, Apr 15 2008

You can believe what you want – or you can check out facts. And today is the day to know what you believe is true. When we are told something (in the media for example) enough times we start believing what we hear.

I challenge you.  Check it out.

April 16th AdditionSome of the folks who have responded to this post have interesting but somewhat biased views.  I think the important thing is to research honestly, not listening to the media, nor depending upon what they write.  If you check out their politics you find very liberal folks, most living lifestyles far above what the man on the street can afford.

As well, by checking voting records, government reporting sites and so forth you get some idea of what is really happening.  The greatest good is not necessarily going to benefit everyone, but neither will it harm them and cause them fear.  Fear mongering fast change artists who hollar “change” are the very same folks who voted for the disaster we have now.

Happiness is not where you live, it’s how you live.  Speaking from the view of one who has traveled to poor and rich countries – I can plainly tell you – happiness is not a feature the government can provide.  It’s who you are.  How you choose to think and act, and how grateful you are for what you have.  Some of the poorest of the poor I have seen by far and away happier than prime ministers, ambassadors, business owners, and other “rich and privileged” people I met.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/22958.html

I did my research. The above statements are correct!

But when I checked it out myself and found that and I quote a “recently an incorrect comparison of income taxes under Presidents Clinton and Bush has been making the rounds of the internet, showing up in forwarded e-mails and on numerous blogs and message boards. Recently an incorrect comparison of income taxes under Presidents Clinton and Bush has been making the rounds of the internet, showing up in forwarded e-mails and on numerous blogs and message boards.”

While the basic message of the comparison is correct (federal income taxes have indeed fallen under George Bush for groups at all points on the income spectrum), the chart created by the author of this other email comparison contains some mathematical errors. Furthermore, those other comparisons are exaggerated by the fact that annual inflation adjustments in the tax code would have lowered tax bills in 2008 relative to 1999 under a constant nominal income amount.”

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is ’screwing’ them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever (you know — the guy that was confused about what sex was and who was supposed to be with; the one who was impeached).  See article from Rutgers on his impeachment.  http://www.eagleton.rutgers.edu/e-gov/e-politicalarchive-Clintonimpeach.htm

Democrats are saying they will repeal the Bush tax cuts.  Think about it.  It’s really not rocket science.   I chose the above tax facts to show the younger voters what they’re saying if they vote Democrat.

While I don’t agree with everything I hear from either party, I don’t want a president like the two Democratic frontrunners.

Barak is 1/2 white - to vote for him just because he is black is both racist and 1/2 truth (His mom  a white Kansas woman).  This fuels the very thing we hate – racism.  (And lest you think I’m racist – I agreed with this from my friend and pastor – who is black.)  Please look at his voting records for his short period as a legislator – he abstained voting neither yes or no, much of the time.  Oh, that’s rich!  What has he done?  If he’s done nothing – why does anyone believe he can change the status quo?

Hilary – well, Lord bless her she’s had enough storytelling in her life.

Send this to friends who are touting only “change” as their mantra.  You better know change to what.

And you can always move if you don’t like it here.  I celebrate the USA.  I’ve traveled internationally and I know how great our nation is.

Ask friends to do the research and not depend on the media or email from people who don’t check their facts.

Tell them good works don’t need embellishment – stick to the truth.

Praying this Tuesday God will give righteousness and peace a vote.

Praying you vote to save the USA and its unborn population as well.
