I was ignorant all my life about how to take care of me.  Then it got to be stupid.  I can use that word, because I know how many times I did things other people told me even when I thought I shouldn’t.  Dieting, fasting, exercise (no pain, no gain), eating improperly for my frame and then “toughing it out” when I should have sought my heavenly Father’s advice and then done it.

For the last 5 weeks my left foot has been wrapped, going in once a week to redo it.  The tendons that go around the back and up to the front on the bottom (clear as mud, right) have been tearing off the bone.  Actually it is the tendon of the peroneous longus muscle on both sides of the ankle.  Unusually painful only early a.m. and if I turn the foot to the side (like when I lay on my side).  The wrap helps the pain, and helps me remember to 86 the walking.

But today at about 3:30 I fell going into a store.  Embarrassing because clerks came out of the store, passersby stopped and there I was  – kinda flopped on the sidewalk – and with either the tendon worse or a strained muscle or sprained ankle.

Now – I’m asking – does anyone who reads this have ideas how to strengthen those tendons without putting any weight on them or hurting them?  How about some pain management for ongoing frailities that doesn’t eat my stomach up or make me stupid?

I’d love some ideas that were as healthy as they are good.  And yes, I’m going back to my orthopedic or podiatrist tomorrow.

ANSWER #1 A nurse I know wrote me and said try Arnica (gel or caps).
