I know many people who hate the way America is showing so badly internationally on many fronts, like education and healthcare. Those of us over 50 remember “the good old days” fondly. Like when you got grounded for “C’s”, and no one complained about not wearing “name brands” cause there were none. Like when getting to see the President was a honor, like putting your hand on your heart when you sang the National Anthem. Of course you knew all the words! Prayer before the ball games – on the field! Teachers who hugged you and would give you a cuddle and whom no one would even think of backtalking. Parents who worked out their problems for sake of the kids. Politicians who knew people by their first names even if they didn’t get their vote. Penny candy. (I digress).
The generation I’m in are the baby boomers. We rebelled against a plastic society much like the generation of young people today who are sick to death of rhetoric and want change. I am praying that there comes a revival of such huge proportion that it makes the “Jesus People” movement look tiny. TheCALL DC last year had an estimated 40,000 young people standing up for righteousness in our nation’s capital. BRAVO! Our son went and his stories afterwards had me green with envy. We’re going this year! We are registered and we vote. We pray. Our prayer group prays. We care what happens to the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I do not understand why so many whine, complain and bellyache about the state of the Union and then don’t vote or even pray about it. Many don’t even know what issues they should be concerned about, or whose voting records to check, or where. Only voters have a right to be pleased or disappointed.
So – I’m listing a few issues for you to be concerned about; and once you’re aware you are concerned, start praying for God’s representative to be elected. Ask God to show you your part in the process; some may pray, some may make calls, others may put up signs, some may work in the local party headquarters praying on the spot.
Take time to find out how each person voted on the issues you are concerned about. If they voted against Bible and moral values VOTE AGAINST THEM. There is a study out now on what caused great nations to fall – and the falling away of moral values is the top reason. Vote against them.
1. War/National Defense
2. Family Value Issues
3. Religion
4. Supreme Court
5. Education
6. Economic Growth
7. Tax Policies
8. Immigration
9. Energy – Environment
10. Healthcare
11. Gun Control
12. Abortion vs. Pro-life
The important thing is that you don’t remain silent. The USA is filled with wonderful people who have great talents and resources, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, education or financial status. We deserve a President and a government that represents us and doesn’t pander to the inevitable compromises that come with tenure.
We deserve a Congress that doesn’t waste time lobbying and lollygagging around – filibustering . If you doubt me just google “Congress Stalls” and prepare to be angry. With the wages they get both now and in the future, you’d expect a good days work, just like the rest of us have to do. It’s incongruous to do this and try to convince us they are “working out a solution”.
Wikipedia’s definition of filibuster follows. A filibuster, or “talking out a bill”, is a form of obstruction in a legislature or other decision-making body. An attempt is made to infinitely extend debate upon a proposal in order to delay the progress or completely prevent a vote on the proposal taking place. The term ‘filibuster’ was first used in 1851. It was derived from the Spanish filibustero meaning ‘pirate’ or ‘freebooter’. This term had in turn evolved from the French word flibustier, which itself evolved from the Dutch vrijbuiter (freebooter). This term was applied at the time to American adventurers, mostly from Southern states, who sought to overthrow the governments of Central American states, and was transferred to the users of the filibuster, seen as a tactic for pirating or hijacking debate.
Demand an end to this practice. Demand that the people elected represent you. Write letters, send emails, go to town-meetings, call them. Do not just sit and allow us to go down the drain.
VOTE AGAINST POLITICIANS who do not support the Bible and strong moral values.
Above all – PRAY that God will protect us from carnal, self-pandering, spendthrifts, who cannot say no to pressure.
CAN MY ONE VOTE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

2000 The Bush vs. Gore presidential election showed Americans just how close results can be!
HOW TO GET REGISTERED TO VOTE – You can register at a post office, library, any city or state government agency and many churches are providing the service. If you need help – let me know – I will help you. It’s that important!
